Lisa Gibbs has a BA in Dance from Birmingham-Southern College and an MA in Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Since joining Southern Danceworks in 1994, she has performed repertory programs and school shows in Birmingham and throughout Alabama. Through her work with Southern Danceworks, Lisa has performed several solos and duets, and has worked with several gifted choreographers and world renowned dancers. Lisa has also performed with the Alabama Ballet under the direction of Wes Chapman. In the fall of 2002, she was hired by Samford University as Adjunct Professor of Dance. In the fall of 2005, she became Program Support Specialist for the Department of Theatre. Ms. Gibbs provides secretarial assistance to the department, oversees the box office, assists with publicity and coordinates the summer theatre camp in addition to teaching technique classes in ballet, modern, and jazz. Gibbs was instrumental in the development of a dance minor, offered at Samford University since the fall of 2007. Ms. Gibbs is a member of the Alabama Dance Council and the National Dance Educators Organization. To further her own education, she continues to take classes in ballet, modern and jazz, and attends as many workshops as possible. Lisa and her husband Charles have two children and two cats. They live in Bluff Park and enjoy camping and hiking. Lisa's goal is to one day hike at least a part of every mountain range in the United States.

Jamorris Rivers began his early training with the Lynn Curtis Academy of Arts and on scholarship with the Alabama School of Fine Arts Summer Intensive. In 2004 Jamorris was featured in Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson’s Work in Progress during the Complexions Contemporary Dance Company’s Summer Residency. Jamorris is a graduate of the University of Alabama where he was seen in Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake Pas de Deux. A company member of the Alabama Ballet, he has been seen in Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, Van Fleteren’s Concert Fantasy and Weksler’s Quixotic. Jamorris was most recently seen in Europe performing with Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson’s contemporary dance company Complexions.

Beth Rooney holds a degree from Birmingham-Southern College. She was a soloist with the Alabama Dance Theatre in Montgomery and Ballet Mobile, and has danced with the company for over fourteen years.

Robert Royce did his early training with the North Carolina School of the Arts, Pacific Northwest Ballet, School of American Ballet, The Hungarian National Ballet and Burklyn Ballet. He has since performed with Dayton Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet and most recently with Augusta Ballet, and appeared in George Balanchine's Allegro Brilliante and Theme and Variations, Ben Stevenson's The Nutcracker, and Christopher Flemming's Janis and Joe. Rob has choreographed full-length versions of Alice In Wonderland, The Little Mermaid and Cinderella, which were seen at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival from 2001-2003. He was awarded the Scotsman's 2001 Readers Choice Award for Best Dance and Physical Theatre. A member of the Alabama Ballet, this is Rob’s premier performance with Southern Danceworks as a dancer and choreographer.

Mary Margaret Scalici has a B.A. degree from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. She has performed with the Tuscaloosa Community Dancers, Dance Alabama!, and the Alabama Repertory Theater. Currently, she teaches at the Children’s Dance Foundation, the Alabama State Ballet School, and for outreach programs throughout Central Alabama.

Kyle Seguin began his training in Huntsville, AL before attending the University of Alabama as a full scholarship dance major. Kyle is currently a senior in the Honors Program for Psychology at UAB. As a company member with the Alabama Ballet, Kyle has danced the roles of Count Albrecht in Giselle and Prince Desire in The Sleeping Beauty. He has also danced principal roles in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Spring Waters Pas de Deux, Flames of Paris, and in Van Fleteren’s Romeo & Juliet, Tickling the Ivories, and Sonata in B Major. In addition, Kyle has performed in Margi Cole’s Reel to Reel and Tymeless Notions. Kyle is a former figure skater and performed the role of Mr. Mistoffeles in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats.
